ZOMBIE PROM
Music by Dana P. Rowe Book & Lyrics John Dempsey
SYNOPSIS: What’s a pretty senior to do when her rebel-without-a-cause boyfriend dies after driving his motorcycle into an atomic power plant only to come back as an oozing zombie hell-bent on graduating? Does she still go with him to the prom? At Enrico Fermi High in the 1950’s, the answer is likely to be “yes”. With super-charged doses of “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Grease”, this girl-meets-ghoul musical explodes with exciting mutations of doo-wop, teenage ballads, rousing gospel and rock to release a radioactive feel-good glow upon the entire nuclear family!
ROLES AVAILABLE:
FEMALE
Miss Delilah Strict: (35-45) Mezzo-Soprano, must have good supported head tones, almost operatic sounding. Sings to a high A. Enrico Fermi High School Principal, lives up to her name. Her motto,” Rules, Regulations and Respect”, is her life. Runs a tight ship, likes everything and everyone to fall in line. She is hiding a dark secret from her wild youth.
Toffee: (15-21) Belt soprano, must have good lower range (sings a low F-sharp at one point) and belt (or mix) to a high E. Pretty, smart, spunky. She’s a good girl, but she can’t help falling for the new boy.
Candy, Coco, Ginger, Cinnamon, Sugar: (15-21) One strong, solid belt with head tones, One belt (or mix) soprano and One character belt soprano to a C-Sharp. Toffee’s friends. Sweet, supportive, each has her own personality: the athlete, the snitch, the fashion plate, the goody two shoes, and the bad girl. They also perform the incidental female roles in the show. All will perform solos at the Enrico High Valentine’s Dance.
MALE
Jonny Warner: (15-21) High rock tenor – sings up to a high B-flat, can use a good, strong, supported falsetto (50’s rock and roll sounding falsetto). New guy at school. Orphan, rebel without a clue. Falls for Toffee at first sight.
Joey, Josh, Jake, Jimmy, Jack: (15-21) One high rock tenor, strong, supported falsetto OK (sings alto in group numbers) and Two strong tenors with low notes. The Boys at Enrico Fermi High. Each has his own personality: the jock, the nerd, the brain, the thespian, and the kid. They also perform the incidental male roles in the show. All will perform solos at the Enrico High Valentine’s Dance.
Eddie Flagrante: (35-45) Baritone/crooner type. Sings to a high F-sharp. Cracker-jack reporter of Expose Magazine, does whatever it takes to get a scoop. Good looking, charming, a ladie’s man.
